Although Afghanistan’s Ministry of Education (MOE), began coordinating teacher training efforts nationally in 2006, HTAC has continued to provide important teacher training support in areas of the country where the MOE lacks sufficient resources.
Our multi-method teacher training approach uses seminars, modeling, co-teaching, followed by independent teaching in the classroom while our experienced staff provides individual coaching and teacher development plans during the entire teaching process.
All teachers who complete our rigorous program must demonstrate their competencies in eleven teaching standards, ranging from establishing learning goals and lesson plans to student psychology and classroom management.
For a country where 90% of public school teachers have never had any training, HTAC’s quality-based program has been recognized by the MOE and many other Afghan educators as one of the most effective in the country for preparing new teachers for classroom instruction.
HTAC’s reputation for excellence has earned us the opportunity to manage a multi-year program that is training approximately 2,000 teachers in one of Afghanistan’s large Southern provinces.
