Our Performance Record

Help the Afghan Children (HTAC), takes great pride in our performance.   By delivering innovative programs and quality services that address critical educational needs, HTAC and our partners are developing models of excellence that are having a profound, measurable impact on thousands of Afghan children every year, and creating blueprints that represent the future of education in Afghanistan.

HTAC was one of the first organizations to successfully establish community model schools into selected provinces of the country, dramatically raising the level of education children receive.

HTAC's teacher training program was one of the first in Afghanistan's history to require the mastery of critical teaching competencies (for teachers) that has improved the level of instruction students receive.

HTAC was the first organization to introduce computer education into Afghan public schools, providing marketable job skills for thousands of graduating Afghan high school students (over 50% of whom are girls).

HTAC introduced the first peace and environmental education programs to primary and middle school children, which are recognized as key ‘life skills' courses by Afghanistan's Ministry of Education.

HTAC strives to demonstrate our accountability, transparency and high performance by:

  • Establishing meaningful performance measures to better evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and services.
  • Posting and updating our Performance Scorecard on our website to let people and organizations know how we are doing. Click HERE to view our Scorecard.
  • Practicing continuous improvement methods (by all our staff) to help ensure our work is continually measured, evaluated, and redesigned to facilitate incremental improvement over time. By incorporating these methods, HTAC became one of the first non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in Afghanistan to move beyond traditional monitoring and evaluation practices and adopt a more rigorous performance improvement mentality.
