Help the Afghan Children (HTAC), takes great pride in the quality of our work and the positive impact we're having in delivering education to children in our schools, empowering local school committees, and improving the quality of life for children and their families.
HTAC's Performance Scorecard is designed to reflect the overall results of our work and let you know how we’re doing. Our Scorecard has 4 major categories:
- Our ability to train and prepare teachers to excel in the classroom.
- Our ability to enroll students in schools; especially girls.
- Our ability to delivery quality programs and facilitate student achievement.
- he impact we're having in delivering critical humanitarian aid.
Note: In Afghanistan, the school year begins around March 21st. and runs through November 30th. Some Scorecard data will not be available until the completion of the current school year.

HTAC was the first organization to introduce computers and computer education into Afghan public schools (2003) and our program is highly-recognized. As a comparison, less than 3% of all Afghan students are exposed to any form of computer education.

HTAC uses unique custom-designed illustrated storybooks to support classroom instruction. These bi-lingual books (Dari and English) are also available in each of our school libraries. As a comparison, over 50% of Afghan boys and 80% of girls (nationwide) remain illiterate.

Since 1993, HTAC has delivered critical medical supplies, school supplies, clothing, nutritional supplements, hygiene materials, cooking and heating materials for over 1.5 million men, women, and children.

Cultural Exchanges

Since 2005, HTAC has embarked on an innovative cross-cultural learning program where selected students from schools (primarily in the West), participate in formal exchange projects with students from ‘sister’ schools in Afghanistan. Project themes include topics such as: What is democracy?; Achieving peace in the world; & What is your school day like?

HTAC believes that school administrators and teachers can best support on-going computer education for students if they themselves become computer literate. That is why we offer special computer training classes for administrators and teachers in schools where computer education is taught. As a result of this training, administrators and teachers can apply their computer knowledge to their work and become more productive.
This program typically runs in the Winter months from December¨CMarch. |
